How Eating Healthy Fat Can Help With Burning-Fat

Despite being made out to be ‘evil’ by the media, dietary fat is not all that bad. In fact it can help you in your quest to burn fat and lose weight.

Dietary fat is essential for normal growth and development, it provides energy, protects our organs and helps absorb vitamins. Replacing some of your daily calories of carbohydrates with fats that are high in fibre can help you feel more full and decrease appetite, this is because they take longer to digest in the body than simple carbohydrates.

Some examples of satiating fats and fibre include: Fish, Nuts & Seeds, Porridge, Avocados, Eggs.

Decreasing carbohydrates also has an effect on insulin, lower insulin levels will allow your body to access stored fat easier. Although dietary fat is needed for a healthy and functional body they are not calorie free, they can be over consumed. Fats have 9 Calories per gram, where as Carbohydrates and Proteins only have 4 Calories per gram. Making a conscious effort to not over consume on fats when using oils and dressings on food especially can keep your daily calories low.
