How it works

What Is Small Group Personal Training in Leicester?

Small group personal training — sometimes known as semi-private personal training — is exactly what it sounds like: you train alongside a small group of people (max 10, average 6), but you're coached individually.

You're not doing the same workout as everyone else

Your programme is personalised to you — your goals, your injuries, your current fitness level. The coach adjusts weights, reps, and exercises for each person in the group.

It's not a class

Everyone in the session is working on their own programme. Your coach knows exactly what you're doing, what you should be lifting, and what progression you're working towards. You're coached individually — you just happen to be training alongside others.

The group is small — deliberately

Maximum 10 people. Average 6. That means your coach has the time and attention to actually coach you properly. You're not one of 30 people in a big room being shouted at by someone with a microphone.

You train with people at a similar stage

Most of our small group clients are over 40. Many are returning to fitness after years focused on work and family. You're not training alongside 25-year-olds doing burpees — you're training with people who understand exactly where you're at.

Is it for you?

Is Small Group Personal Training Right For You?

Most people who choose small group personal training in Leicester are looking for one or more of these things:

The energy and accountability of training with others

You've spent years training alone — or not training at all. You want the social element. You want to show up because other people are expecting you. You want the buzz that comes from training alongside people who are working just as hard as you are.

A network of people who actually care about health and fitness

You've spent decades focused on work and family. Your social circle doesn't prioritise health. You're looking to rebuild a network around people who get it — who understand why this matters and who are on the same journey.

Quality coaching without the premium 1-to-1 price

You want the same coaching quality, the same personalised programming, the same attention to form and progression — but at a more affordable price point than private 1-to-1 sessions.

You've graduated from 1-to-1 and you're ready for the group

You started with private sessions to build confidence and learn the basics. Now you're ready to train alongside others. The programme stays the same — just the format changes.

You're retired or semi-retired and you want the social side

Training is as much about the routine, the community, and the structure as it is about the physical results. You want something to build your week around. Familiar faces and a reason to leave the house.

If any of those sound familiar — you're in the right place.Book a free consultation

Not a class

What Small Group Training in Leicester Isn't — And Why That Matters

Let's be clear about what this isn't — because that's just as important as what it is.

Not this

A Bootcamp

You're not being screamed at by an instructor trying to break you. The intensity is appropriate to where you're at. Your coach knows your name, your limitations, and your goals.

Not this

A Choreographed Fitness Class

You're not following along with a routine on a screen. You're not doing synchronised movements in a dark room with loud music. You're training with a coach who's watching you and correcting your form.

Not this

Circuit Training or Spin

You're not rotating through stations on a timer. You're not cycling in formation. You're doing proper strength training — progressive, coached, designed to build muscle and improve your health markers.

Not this

F45 or Big Gym Group Fitness

Those are classes. Everyone does the same thing. The instructor can't possibly give you individual attention because there are 30+ people in the room. That's not what this is.

Small group personal training at Transformation Fit is coached. Every session. Every person. Every rep. Your coach knows what you're lifting, what you should be progressing to, and what modifications you need. We keep the groups small (max 10, average 6) specifically so we can maintain that coaching quality. The moment the group gets too big, the coaching suffers. That's why we cap it.

Inside a session

What Happens in a Small Group Personal Training Session?

Every session is 60 minutes. Here's the structure:

  1. 10–15 mins

    Focused Mobility & Flexibility Work

Not just generic stretching. Specific movements designed to prepare your body for the session ahead and reduce the aches, pains, and stiffness that come with being over 40.

  2. 35–40 mins

    Strength Training Block

This is the core of the session. Your coach takes you through your programme — exercises chosen specifically for you, progressed at the right pace for your body. Whilst you're working through your programme, the person next to you is doing theirs. Different exercises, different weights, different progressions. Your coach moves between each person, watching, correcting, adjusting.

  3. 10 mins

    Cardiovascular Conditioning

The final block gets your heart rate up without breaking you. It's challenging, it's fun, and it's appropriate to your fitness level. You leave energised, not exhausted.

You train 2–4 times per week depending on your goals and schedule. We'll recommend the right frequency during your free consultation.

Nutrition included

You Can't Out-Train A Poor Diet

Nutrition guidance is included as part of your 90-day programme. It's not a rigid diet plan — it's practical, sustainable advice that works alongside your training and fits into real life.

We provide you with the right macro-nutrient ratio, the right food choices, and the correct knowledge to achieve the body and goals you want. We work around your work and home routines, so it's something you can keep doing.

Clients who follow both the training and nutrition guidance consistently see the strongest results, including improvements in blood sugar, blood pressure, and cholesterol after 90 days.

FAQs

Questions About Small Group Personal Training in Leicester

What is small group personal training?

Small group personal training is where you train alongside a small group of people (max 10, average 6), but you're coached individually. Your programme is personalised to you — your coach adjusts weights, reps, and exercises based on your goals, injuries, and current fitness level. It's not a class where everyone does the same thing. You're coached individually — you just happen to be training with others.

How many people are in a small group training session in Leicester?

Maximum 10 people per session. Average is 6. We keep the groups deliberately small so the coach can give you proper individual attention. If the group gets too big, the coaching quality suffers — and we're not willing to compromise on that.

How much does small group personal training in Leicester cost?

Programmes start from £50 per week depending on how often you train and your overall goals. This is significantly more affordable than 1-to-1 personal training, whilst delivering the same coaching quality and personalised programming. We discuss exact pricing during your free consultation — no hidden costs, no surprises.

Is small group training suitable for beginners?

Yes. Many of our small group clients are complete beginners or returning to fitness after years away. Your programme is designed around where you are right now, not where you think you should be. The coach adjusts exercises, weights, and progressions for each person — so it doesn't matter if the person next to you is stronger or fitter than you. You're working on your programme, not theirs.

What's the difference between small group training and a gym class?

In a gym class, everyone does the same workout regardless of fitness level or goals. The instructor can't possibly give you individual attention because there are 30+ people in the room. In small group personal training, you're coached individually. Your programme is built around you. Your coach knows what you're lifting, what you should be progressing to, and what modifications you need. The group is capped at 10 people specifically so the coach can maintain that level of attention.

Is small group training suitable for over-40s and over-50s?

Yes — and that's exactly who we work with most. Most of our small group clients are over 40. Many are returning to fitness after years focused on work and family. The sessions are designed to build strength, reduce aches and pains, and improve health markers — not to break you. You train with people at a similar stage of life who understand where you're at.

Where is your small group training studio in Leicester?

We're based at Unit 6 Heanor Street, Leicester, LE1 4DB. It's a private studio with free secure parking on-site. No big gym atmosphere. Just a clean, professional training space designed for small group personal training in Leicester.

How do I get started with small group personal training?

Book a free consultation. We'll talk through where you're at, what you want from training, and whether small group or 1-to-1 makes more sense for you. No pressure, no commitment. If it's not the right fit, we'll tell you honestly.

Can I switch from small group to 1-to-1 later (or vice versa)?

Yes. Some people start with 1-to-1 to build confidence and then move to small groups when they're ready. Others start in small groups and occasionally add 1-to-1 sessions for focused work. Your programme follows you — the coaching approach stays consistent whichever format you're in.
